June 24, 2025 – Police in the Half Assini Division have rescued a 12-year old boy seen in a disturbing viral video being tied with a nylon rope and brutally assaulted. The incident reportedly took place at New Ankasa, near Elubo in Ghana’s Western Region.
According to a statement from the Western Regional Police Command, the young victim was allegedly punished by two men who accused him of stealing GHC200. In the widely circulated footage, the boy was seen hanging from a rooftop while being beaten.
Two individuals captured in the video have been arrested. They have been identified as Issah Morro, 58, and Suleman Abdul Rashid, 27. Both suspects are currently in police custody and assisting with investigations.
Police officials confirmed that the child has received medical care and has been safely returned to his father.
Superintendent Olivia E.T. Adiku, Head of the Public Affairs Unit in the Western Region, emphasized the commitment of the Ghana Police Service to public safety. She urged the public to promptly report any harmful or suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
Authorities are calling on community members to remain vigilant and help protect children from all forms of abuse.
