August 23, 2025 — The Western Nzema Traditional Council has installed a new Paramount Chief at Beyin under the stool name Awulae Kwasi Amachie, to replace the sitting Paramount Chief, Awulae Annor Adjaye III.
The installation follows a declaration by Awulae Annor Adjaye III that he was advanced in years, hence the decision to pass the baton to his nephew to continue the reign.
In line with custom and tradition, Awulae Kwasi Amachie was outdoored and paraded in a palanquin, with genuflections, through the principal streets of Beyin, the seat of the Western Nzema paramountcy.
Present at the ceremony were the Jomoro Divisional Police Commander; the District Police Commander of Nzema East; the MCE for Jomoro, Hon. Benedict; Awulae Angama-Tu Agyan; other traditional rulers; a representative of the MP; and members of the police service.
The newly installed Paramount Chief took the oaths of office, secrecy, and allegiance.
Also in attendance was the Northern Traditional Ensemble and Cultural Troupe from Nawule, amidst brass band music.
The former acting president of the Western Nzema Traditional Area, Nana Epila Sam, advised the new Paramount Chief to stamp his authority to ensure that the Petroleum Hub Development Project comes on stream in Jomoro. He also asked him to fight against opponents who were not the rightful heirs to the throne and were not of Nzema blood, and who were fighting against the Nzema area.
Nana Epila Sam reminded Awulae Kwasi Amachie to begin development projects, with Beyin as the seat of the paramountcy.
Chief after chief welcomed the inaugural speech of the new Paramount Chief and assured him of their readiness to support him during his reign.
