June 25, 2025 – The body of Mr. Wisdom Kluu, a River Guard from Azulenloanu who reportedly drowned on the evening of Monday, June 23, in the River Amanzule, has been found washed ashore, lying dead on the riverbank.
He has since been buried in accordance with Islamic traditions.
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ellembelle, Hon. Joseph Agyekum, visited Azulenloanu to commiserate with the family of Mr. Wisdom Kluu following the unfortunate incident.
It will be recalled that the late Wisdom Kluu, upon closing from work on Monday, June 23, went on his usual hunting expedition with his dogs in the nearby bush.
Speaking to the media after the body was found at Azulenloanu, the Coordinator of Ellembelle River Guards, Mr. Stephen Afena, confirmed that Mr. Kluu had closed from work on that Monday.

At home, he informed his family that he was heading out for his usual hunting trip.
Family members ferried him across the River Amanzule in a traditional canoe. However, he reportedly told them that he would return by foot using the main lorry road instead of crossing the river again.
Later that evening, Mr. Kluu is believed to have attempted to cross the river by himself without seeking help from his family. Unfortunately, he was not a strong swimmer and drowned during the attempt.
Surprisingly, his dogs, which had accompanied him, managed to wade through the river and return home. When their master did not come back, the dogs repeatedly went to and from the riverside, raising concern. Sadly, the family did not realize the urgency of the situation in time to act.
Elders of the town sounded the traditional drum to summon community members, who, together with the River Guards, joined the search for the missing man. Despite their efforts, he was not found until Wednesday morning when his body was discovered washed ashore.
Mr. Stephen Afena clarified that the deceased was not on an official River Guard assignment but was on a personal hunting trip, which he often undertook to support his family.
He added that a similar incident had occurred in Adubrim, where another River Guard, Mr. Paaha, lost his life while checking his fishing traps in the Nren River.
