A strong cadre of the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC), Mr. John Kwodwo Kwentsir, originally from Winneba but domiciled in Tarkwa, has passed away.
He died at the age of 89 on January 7, 2025, a few months after being admitted to and discharged from the Tarkwa Government Hospital.
Until his death, the late Mr. John Kwentsir worked at the Nsuta Mines and was later transferred to the Internal Revenue Service, now the Ghana Revenue Authority, in Tarkwa.
He rose through the ranks to become a Senior Revenue Collector.
The late Mr. John Kwentsir was a devoted supporter of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who strongly believed in the ideals of probity, accountability, and transparency as espoused by former President Jerry John Rawlings.
He was married to the late Mrs. Sussana Kwentsir, a native of Krisan in the Ellembelle District, and they were blessed with six children.
The final funeral rites of the late Mr. Kwentsir have been scheduled for April 25 to 27, 2025, at the Saint Matthew’s Roman Catholic Church in Tarkwa.
