March 2, 2026 – The Member of Parliament (MP) for Jomoro, Hon. Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has constructed a six-unit ultra modern, state-of-the-art classroom block to replace the dilapidated structure of Nana Arvo Nwiah Basic School at Forest Junction, a cocoa-growing community near Tikobo No. 2 in the Jomoro Municipality of the Western Region.
The facility is expected to serve a population of over ten thousand (10,000) people in the scattered communities, especially after the construction of a bridge to link them.
The 21st-century classroom block comes with ancillary facilities, including offices for staff and toilet facilities for pupils. It is being furnished with desks, whiteboards, and ICT tools such as laptops.
Speaking to journalists during a tour of the constituency, Hon. Dorcas Affo-Toffey said she was moved to construct the six-unit classroom block after being informed about the poor bamboo structure previously used as a makeshift classroom, which exposed schoolchildren in the area to harsh weather conditions.
Hon. Affo-Toffey, who is also the Deputy Minister of Transport, said she initiated and funded the project herself in 2024 while serving as the MP in opposition.

The MP said children in the area are potential future leaders and must be given access to quality education delivery with 21st-century skills and competencies.
Madam Affo-Toffey encouraged parents in the communities to use education as a tool to unlock opportunities in life and to ensure their children attend school.
She also thanked the people for turning out in large numbers to vote for her during the 2024 general elections.
The Nana Arvo Nwiah Basic School, named after the Chief of Tikobo No. 2, is expected to be handed over to the Ghana Education Service (GES) in the coming weeks to enable pupils to move into the new facility.
