A Unit Committee Member at Gwira-Dominase in the Nzema-East Municipality of the Western Region, Mr. Akannor Nyamekeh, has made a distressing appeal to the Ghana Highway Authority under the Ministry of Roads and Highways to, as a matter of urgency, embark on repair works on the steel bridge over the River Ankobra at Dominase.

Mr. Nyamekeh lamented that previous attempts to get the authorities to fix the bridge had proved futile. He cited ADAMUS Gold Mines at Salman, which had expressed willingness to repair the bridge but was allegedly instructed by the Ghana Highway Authority to channel its resources through the agency for the repairs.
As a result, ADAMUS Gold Mines could only use ordinary mud to fill the surface of the bridge, leaving the exposed iron rods unaddressed.

The Unit Committee Member once again urged the Ghana Highway Authority, the District Roads Engineer, and the Ministry of Roads and Highways to respond swiftly to the community’s plea, emphasizing that the bridge serves as a crucial link between communities in Ellembelle and Evaloe-Gwira through to Simpa Junction.
He also called on the Members of Parliament for Ellembelle, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, and Evaloe-Gwira, Hon. Kofi Arko-Nokoe, to take immediate steps to ensure that the bridge is restored to a safe condition.
