Sunday 7 December 2025, Nzematoday TV encountered an unforeseen event today during the official launch of the Soh Soh Doh Festival, which our team attended to promote Nzema culture, heritage, and community activities. While we were documenting the ceremony and capturing significant moments, we got a message that the Chief of Half Assini, Nana Ayebie Amihere VI, wished to meet us at the palace. Assuming it was a courtesy or an opportunity for further cultural interaction, we headed to the palace right away.
Upon our arrival, we were greeted by the Chief and his elders. However, what happened next was surprising. The Chief instructed the crew to remove all video footage taken at the festival grounds. When our crew respectfully asked for more information, they were told that Nzematoday TV was viewed as endorsing Tumivole Kaku Aka a notion we categorically rejected. Our team explained that Nzematoday TV functions as an independent, non-partisan media organization, committed to promoting Nzema culture, unity, and development. We also reminded the palace that we had previously covered major Nzema events, such as the Half Assini Kundum Festival, where the Chief himself was featured, with the intention of celebrating our common heritage.
Following the clarification, the Chief and his elders insisted on the removal of the footage. In prioritizing the safety and well-being of our team, the crew adhered to their directive. This incident has prompted important discussions within our community: Is this really about perceptions of Tumivole Kaku Aka, or is there something more significant behind the decision? As a media house, Nzematoday TV is committed to professionalism, neutrality, and a steadfast dedication to positively showcasing Nzema culture without bias. We are grateful for the support from our viewers and will continue to provide updates on any further developments related to this matter.
