May 19, 2025 – For over a year, Nzematoday TV has amplified the voices of Nzema communities crying out over the worsening state of roads and infrastructure. From Jomoro to Ellembelle and Evalue-Gwira, the message is loud and clear:
“We are tired. We need action. No more excuses.”
These issues did not begin with the current administration they are the result of decades of neglect across governments. But the communities are no longer interested in blame. They want results.
Our Reports Are Only the Beginning
The articles we’ve published reflect only a fraction of what Nzema communities face:
• Concerned elder Aluoke Ewienebile in Ebi (Ellembelle) laments terrible roads.
• Road from Teleku-Bokazo to Simpa Junction reported as nearly impassable.
• Bridge over River Ankobra in Dominase (Ellembelle) feared to be on the brink of collapse.
• Traditional rulers demand asphalt for the Teleku-Bokazo to Aiyinasi trunk road.
• Cocoa farmers in Asasetre (Ellembelle) unable to access markets due to bad roads.
But these are just a few highlights. Residents across Jomoro say their roads are in even worse condition muddy death traps during the rains, isolating entire communities. Farming and fishing communities face severe challenges transporting produce to markets, with some routes completely inaccessible.
“We Keep Calling, But We Are Not Heard”
At Nzematoday TV, we receive constant calls from residents across all three Nzema constituencies. The people are desperate, hoping their stories will lead to action. But let us be clear:
Nzematoday TV is not a government agency.
We are a media platform, not road contractors or policymakers. Our responsibility is to give voice to the people the responsibility to fix roads lies solely with those in power.

Nzema Powers the Nation- But Gets Nothing in Return
The frustration of Nzema residents is deeper than potholes. It is the pain of being ignored despite being a backbone of Ghana’s economy. The region hosts oil and gas installations, gold, cocoa farms, timber, rubber plantations, and more.
Heavy-duty trucks carrying Ghana’s wealth pass daily through crumbling roads in Nzema. Yet the communities behind that wealth live in danger and deprivation.
“This country is biting the hand that feeds it,” one resident in Jomoro said.
The People’s Demands
These are the unified voices of Nzema’s communities from Ellembelle to Jomoro to Evalue-Gwira:
• Immediate rehabilitation of all major roads and bridges across Nzema.
• Special attention to Jomoro and Evalue-Gwira, where conditions are most critical.
• Permanent solutions, not temporary grading or patchwork.
• Public timelines and accountability from the Ministries of Roads and Highways and Local Government.
To the Government: Listen Before It’s Too Late
The people of Nzema have waited for far too long. They are no longer begging. They are demanding. They are rising.
No more speeches. No more politics. No more excuses.
