October 09,2025, The caretaker of Miegyina in the Jomoro Municipality, Odikro Aka Ekyi, has called on the Jomoro Municipal Assembly and the government to address the poor condition of the 3-kilometer road from the Miegyina junction at Beyin to Miegyina, passing through Ebonloa and beyond. He emphasized that the inadequate road network is a significant barrier to development in the region. Odikro Aka Ekyi shared his concerns during an interview with Nzema Today TV at Miegyina, located near Beyin in the Western Region’s Jomoro Municipality.
He mentioned that the poor state of the road network is impacting the economic freedom of people in the area, particularly school children, farmers, and travelers who commute daily between Beyin, Miegyina, and Ebonloa. Consequently, drivers avoid that route, forcing passengers to rely on okada motorbikes for transportation between Miegyina and Beyin. Okada drivers have taken advantage of the situation by charging passengers high fares, frequently GHc20 or more. Odikro Aka Ekyi pointed out that the local school only goes up to basic six, which means children must walk to Beyin every day to attend Junior High School. As a result, many students become discouraged and struggle academically, while others have no choice but to cut their education short at such a critical stage. Odikro Aka Ekyi took the opportunity to urge the Municipal Assembly and the government to improve the roads and establish a Junior High School in the town.
