
Ghana’s newly elected President, John Mahama, is continuing his diplomatic tour of Sahelian nations under military rule, which have formed the AES bloc, in an effort to convince them to rejoin the West African ECOWAS community. Following his visit to Mali last week, President Mahama arrived in Burkina Faso on Monday, where he acknowledged the tensions that led Ouagadougou, Bamako, and Niamey to exit ECOWAS earlier this year, citing the bloc’s failure to support them. Now, Accra is working to bridge the divide.
