The family of Philip Boadi, a young man from Elonyi in the Jomoro Municipality, currently residing in Accra, is appealing to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of the Interior, and Members of Parliament (MPs) in the Nzema area to help locate the whereabouts of their 30-year-old son, Mr. Philip Boadi, and his three friends. The group had traveled abroad last year in search of greener pastures.
The spokesperson for the family, Mr. Beyela Douglas, stated that Mr. Philip Boadi had been employed by the Ghana Dock Labour Company Limited in Accra before deciding to travel abroad with three other young men from Nzema in the Western Region.
Narrating the incident to Nzema Today TV, Mr. Beyela Douglas, who is also the President of the Elonyi Students Association, said that Mr. Philip Boadi and his three friends made the decision to travel to Italy in March 2024.
According to the family head, after boarding a flight to Tunisia, they decided to make their way to Italy on foot along the seashore. However, the last communication he had with his grandson was when they were walking along the coast. He mentioned that some people they encountered along the seashore beckoned to them to come over.
Shortly after that, the grandson’s phone went off, and Mr. Beyela was unable to get any further information about what happened to them after that moment. He said that since then, his phone had remained off, and the family had not heard from him or from the families of the other three young men.
Mr. Beyela Douglas is now appealing to the Ghana Embassy in Tunisia and Italy to assist in tracing the whereabouts of Philip Boadi and his three Nzema friends.
