The Ellembelle District Roads Engineer, Mr. Saaka Alhassan, has appealed to the Ministry of Roads and Highways and the government to urgently ensure that work resumes on roads awarded under contract in the Ellembelle Distric

According to him, major roads such as the 26.5-kilometer stretch from Esiama-Nkroful-Teleku-Bokazo through to Asasetre and Aiyinasi, as well as the Teleku-Bokazo to Simpa Junction road, have already been awarded to Memphis Metropolitan Construction Limited. The Ghana National Petroleum Commission (GNPC) is the funding agency, but the projects have stalled, ostensibly due to financial constraints.
Mr. Saaka Alhassan made these remarks in an interview with Nzema Today TV at Nkroful in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region.
He explained that since the district’s budget is insufficient, several letters have been sent to the regional authorities and the Ministry of Roads and Highways, urging them to address the deplorable state of the roads under contract. However, no concrete action has been taken.
He added that the assembly does not have the budget to repair the deteriorating roads or the collapsed bridge over the River Ebi near Aiyinasi.

Mr. Saaka Alhassan expressed deep concern over the poor road network in Ellembelle, noting that it is making life unbearable for commuters and farmers who struggle to transport their produce to market centers.
The Ellembelle District Roads Engineer also appealed to the GNPC to ensure that work resumes on the feeder roads in Ellembelle to facilitate the smooth movement of goods and services.
All attempts to reach the engineer of Memphis Metropolitan Construction Limited for a response proved futile, as he did not respond to our calls.
