The Coalition of Concerned Nzema People (CCNP) has called on President John Dramani Mahama to clarify the exact land size intended for phase one of the Petroleum Hub Development Project in the Jomoro Municipality, Western Region. While the government recently reaffirmed its commitment to launching the project on 5,000 units of land, the CCNP warns that public confusion remains over whether this figure refers to acres or hectares a difference with serious implications for affected communities, resettlement planning, and compensation.
In a formal letter dated July 30, 2025, the CCNP expressed gratitude for the administration’s renewed engagement but emphasized the need for legal and public certainty. Specifically, the CCNP seeks confirmation that the project will begin with 5,000 acres, not hectares (which would be over 12,000 acres) a crucial distinction in the context of past controversies surrounding land acquisition for the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC).
