January 25, 2026, Hon Mavis Kuukua-Bissue, the Member of Parliament for Ahanta-West Constituency, made a significant donation of life-saving medical equipment and accessories to four hospitals and CHPS compounds in the Ahanta-West Municipality. This donation fulfilled her campaign promise to enhance health centers with essential medical tools and infrastructure, ensuring better quality healthcare delivery. Among the donated items were mattresses, instrument trolleys, delivery beds, weighing scales, examination beds, dressing instruments, and examination lamps. Additionally, the donation included anaesthesia machines, infant incubators, ECG machines, caesarean sets, and wall clocks. During the presentation at the Agona-Nkwanta Polyclinic, Hon Kuukua-Bissue urged nurses in the area to avoid disrespectful and rude behavior towards patients. She emphasized the importance of showing love, passion, humility, and patience as part of their commitment to providing quality healthcare. The MP expressed concern over some nurses who insult patients and neglect their care, urging them to change their ways. She also mentioned that student nurses who received financial support for their training would be assigned to serve in the Municipality after completing their courses. Hon Kuukua-Bissue encouraged modern nurses to follow the exemplary path of Florence Nightingale, who is remembered for her dedication to patient care, even in challenging circumstances.

Mr. Emmanuel Badiana, the Municipal Director of Ghana Health Services for Ahanta-West, praised the MP’s commitment to enhancing the health sector by revitalizing infrastructure and equipping facilities to improve health outcomes. He highlighted the construction of a new maternity block at the Apowa Health Center, spearheaded by Madam Kuukua-Bissue, which will be inaugurated soon. Mr. Badiana noted the MP’s significant efforts to establish laboratory services at both the Apowa and New Amanful Health Centers. Additionally, CHPS Compounds are now equipped with delivery beds, enabling them to assist with childbirth. The Director of Health Services further mentioned that, thanks to the MP’s initiatives, the Agona-Nkwanta Polyclinic will receive upgraded theater equipment, maternity units, and other essential facilities to enhance service delivery. Ing. Ebenezer Kofi Aidoo, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), announced plans to construct four CHPS Compounds by the end of 2026 and two more in 2027, totaling eight by 2028, along with the establishment of a Nursing Station. He also stated that the Bokro hospital, part of the Agenda 111 initiative, is set to be commissioned by the end of 2026, with contractors soon starting work on the Regional hospital. Mr. Stephen Mensah Johnson, the NDC Chairman for the Ahanta-West Constituency, who chaired the event, commended the MP for her dedication to the area’s development, particularly in health. He expressed that the people of Ahanta-West voted for change and will witness a remarkable transformation and overall improvement in the region.
