July 24, 2025 – The Ellembelle District Assembly made an exciting announcement: they’re setting aside 10% of this year’s budget to improve education in the area. But that’s not all! They’re also teaming up with the education Directorate to allocate 20% of the Ghana Gas fund for scholarships aimed at teachers who want to further their studies, especially in the Nzema language, to encourage local language learning. This news was shared by the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ellembelle, Hon. Joseph Agyekum, during the Nkroful Circuit All Teachers Conference and Party, which took place at the AYA Community Center in Ambainu, Ellembelle District, Western Region. The conference, themed “Transforming Education Through Innovation and Passion,” gathered teachers and stakeholders and was co-sponsored by Ghana Gas and the Ellembelle District Assembly. Hon. Joseph Agyekum highlighted how crucial innovation and passion are in helping shape school children into productive citizens.

He reassured the education directorate that the Assembly is committed to collaborating with stakeholders to ensure that essential resources are available and to foster opportunities for teacher development, which will ultimately enhance educational outcomes. He also highlighted that a significant chunk of this year’s budget is earmarked for educational infrastructure. The plans include building a three-unit classroom block at Bobrama, a three-unit Junior High School block at Mandumgbane, and yet another three-unit classroom block at Kotoku. Additionally, more Junior High School blocks are set to rise at Atababo and Asomase this year. Mr. Wilfred Katey Adodoadji, the District Director of Education, encouraged teachers to make the most of their annual Professional Development Allowance for self-improvement by participating in workshops and programs. He urged them to be innovative and adapt their teaching methods to improve instructional delivery. Mr. Wilfred Katey Adodoadji also pointed out that the low attendance of school children is largely a result of parents and guardians neglecting their responsibilities, leaving their children to fend for themselves. “Due to this irresponsible parenting, the children are now taking care of their own needs, which is why they can’t come to school every day,” the Director noted.
