February 15, 2026 A man who claims to be from Russia, known online as Yaytseslav (also reported as Vyacheslav Trahov), has gone viral on social media, particularly in Ghana and other parts of Africa.
What happened?
According to widely shared videos and reports, the man filmed himself approaching women in public places, including Accra Mall in Ghana, and later bringing them to his hotel room.
The encounters were reportedly recorded without the women’s consent (often using smart glasses) and then posted online. This has sparked outrage over privacy violations and lack of consent.
Reports suggest dozens of videos were shared, with similar incidents allegedly taking place in other African countries, including Kenya and South Africa.
The footage has triggered massive backlash on social media, with many people calling for investigations and legal action.
This situation has raised serious concerns about consent, privacy, and the safety of women in public spaces.
Ghana’s Minister of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, has announced that the government has begun processes to track down and prosecute the Russian man identified as Yaytseslav, who is accused of secretly filming sexual encounters with Ghanaian women and posting the videos online.
The minister confirmed that what the man did is a crime under Ghanaian law, especially recording people without their consent and sharing the content for financial gain. He said Ghana will work with Interpol and the Russian Embassy to have the suspect brought back to Ghana to face the law. If he cannot be extradited, he will be tried in absentia.
The government also reassured Ghanaians that citizens’ rights will be protected and warned that secretly recording and posting someone online is a serious offence under the Cyber Security Authority Act (Act 1038).
Ghanaians were urged to stay vigilant and avoid falling victim to such predators.
