February 26,2026-Mr. Richard Ernest Kirk-Mensah, the Head of Corporate Affairs at the Ghana National Gas Company Limited, announced that the technical committee appointed by the government to assess the feasibility of a second gas processing plant at Atuabo has completed its work and submitted its findings. The company is now waiting for directives from the Cabinet to commence construction of the second phase of the Gas Processing Plant. Mr. Kirk-Mensah shared this information during a visit from a delegation of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) at the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region.
The visit was part of Ghana Gas’ 2026 Corporate Strategic Plan, which emphasizes the importance of working together and maintaining ongoing discussions with key stakeholders. During the tour, Mr. Kirk-Mensah mentioned that allowing civil society organizations (CSOs) to access the Gas Processing Plant gave them a better understanding of its technical and operational processes, which helps them fulfill their oversight responsibilities more effectively. Mr. Duncan Amoah, Executive Secretary of the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC), spoke on behalf of the CSOs and praised Ghana Gas for this initiative, calling the existing plant a “game changer.” He also called for the quick start of the second Gas Processing Plant to enhance domestic LPG production and improve Ghana’s energy security.
