Abubakari Mohammed, the Ellembelle District Deputy Chief Imam, passed away shortly after delivering the Khutbah(sermon) during the Eid-Ul-Fitr celebrations at Asasetre.
The tragic incident occurred while he was leading the Salat at the prayer grounds. He collapsed in the course of delivering the Khutbah to mark this year’s Eid-Ul-Fitr, which signifies the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
He was rushed to the Asasetre Health Center and later referred to the St. Martin de Porres Hospital at Eikwe, where he was pronounced dead at around 18:00 GMT.
The late Abubakari Mohammed was 61 years old. He was the eldest son of Alhaji Mohammed of Asasetre.
Until his demise, he worked as an Arabic teacher at Asasetre Islamic Junior High School. He also hosted the Islamic Hourprogramme on West-End Radio in Ambainu.

The Western Regional Chief Imam, Sheikh Suleymana Ahmed Mozu, who led the farewell prayers, prayed for Allah’s mercy upon the soul of the late Deputy Chief Imam.
The Member of Parliament for Ellembelle, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, described Abubakari Mohammed as a good man who made significant contributions to society.
He has since been buried in accordance with Islamic tradition.
