The Caretaker of Home Sweet Home Apartment at Esiama in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region, Mr. Owusu Ansah, has appealed to Nzemas in the diaspora to visit home regularly to reconnect with their family members and friends, and eventually settle down in their old age after their time abroad.
He expressed concern that many Nzemas living abroad are unwilling to return home after seeking greener pastures and better employment opportunities in other countries.
He reiterated the popular saying, “There is no place like home,” emphasizing that, regardless of the comforts and luxuries one enjoys elsewhere, home remains unmatched.
Speaking to Nzema Today TV at his residence in Esiama, Mr. Owusu Ansah highlighted the importance of visiting home occasionally to reconnect with their roots.
He noted that the contribution of Nzemas in the diaspora to the development of the Nzema area has been substantial, with many playing vital roles in their communities.
According to him, in the past, the house named Home Sweet Home served as a transit point for strangers and visitors returning to Nzema land. They were accommodated, fed, and entertained, regardless of whether they were family members.
The Caretaker warned that it would be harmful for indigenes of Nzema to harbor suspicions of witchcraft and wizardry to the extent of labeling their own parents as such.
Mr. Owusu Ansah reassured Nzemas in other parts of the world that they should not fear returning home, as unity with the people was essential.
He emphasized that the sense of belonging and neighborliness, once a vibrant aspect of Nzema culture, should be sustained to ensure peaceful co-existence.
