August 3, 2025 – Armed robbers, numbering about six and wielding AK-47 rifles and machetes, attacked a gold-buying shop at Teleku-Bokazo in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region, firing gunshots and inflicting injuries on two gold dealers.
A source told Nzema Today TV News that the incident occurred on July 30, 2025, around 5:30 p.m. The robbers stormed the shop, heavily armed, and began firing recklessly.
The police at Esiama were informed via a telephone call and promptly proceeded to the scene. However, by the time they arrived, the suspects had already fled in the direction of the Salma community.
According to a press statement issued and signed by the Head of the Public Affairs Unit at the Western Regional Police Command in Sekondi, Superintendent of Police Ms. Olivia Adiku and sighted by Nzema Today TV News police pursued the robbers, leading to an exchange of gunfire.

During the confrontation, one of the suspects, later identified as 34-year-old Abdul Rahman, sustained serious injuries.
Rahman was taken to the St. Martin De Porres Hospital in Eikwe for treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival. Before dying, he named one Mohammed and others as his accomplices. His body has since been deposited at the hospital morgue.
The statement added that preliminary investigations at the scene revealed the robbers entered the gold shop, fired shots, and inflicted machete wounds on two attendants.
Police later visited the St. Martin De Porres Hospital and met the victims: Samuel Appiah, aged 29, who suffered machete wounds to his right thigh, and Kwamena Nketiah, aged 45, who sustained gunshot wounds to the thighs. Both are currently receiving treatment.
On August 1, 2025, intelligence-led investigations led to the arrest of Mohammed Adam, aged 25, whose name was mentioned by the deceased suspect, Abdul Rahman. Mohammed is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
During a search of the area where the robbers had fled, the police recovered the following items: seven spent AK-47 shells, eight live AK-47 rounds, two BB cartridges with spent shells, an empty BB cartridge case, and two motorbike keys.
The Western Regional Police Command has assured the public that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects and bring all perpetrators to justice.
