I write this letter with deep admiration and gratitude, as a child of the nation you fought so hard to build. Though I was not privileged to witness your leadership firsthand, your vision, sacrifices, and unwavering dedication to Ghana and Africa continue to shape my understanding of true patriotism.
You were more than a leader; you were a father to a new Ghana, a beacon of hope for the oppressed, and a fearless champion of African unity. Your words—“The Black man is capable of managing his own affairs”—still resonate deeply, reminding us that independence was not just about breaking free from colonial rule, but about proving to ourselves that we are architects of our own destiny.
Your leadership laid the foundation for a self-reliant Ghana. You built schools, factories, roads, and the Akosombo Dam, envisioning a nation that would stand strong on its own feet. You championed education, knowing that knowledge is the key to true freedom. And though your journey was cut short, your dream of a united and prosperous Africa lives on.
Today, Ghana stands as a testament to your sacrifices, but there is still much work to be done. Corruption, unemployment, and economic challenges threaten the very vision you had for us. Yet, your unwavering belief in the youth gives me hope. You believed that the destiny of Ghana lies in our hands, and I will not let your sacrifices be in vain.
I promise to play my part in building the nation you dreamed of. Whether through service, education, or advocacy, I will work to see Ghana rise to the heights you envisioned. Your legacy will not be forgotten, and your dream of a better Ghana and a united Africa will continue to inspire generations to come.
Rest well, Osagyefo. Your children will carry the torch forward.
Your daughter
Susana Arthur
